Please contact our Business Development department if you are interested in a custom electronic design or integrated display product. The T5 Terminal Product Line is distributed by The CLM Group exclusively for the food service industry. Please contact CLM for customer service or sales support. T5 Terminal OverviewThe Cipher Systems T5 has 80 tactile keys and a 1/4 VGA gray-scale display. A removable frame holds a replaceable menu over the keys. The T5 is intended for on-line use where the application software resides and runs on a Windows 95, 98, NT, or 2000 workstation. A single RS232 COM port on the host PC communicates with multiple T5 terminals. A Cipher Systems A5 adaptor converts the host RS232 signals to RS422 so terminals can be located up to 4000 feet from the host. The Cipher Systems M5 8-port multiplexer is used as an active hub to connect the application to a group of terminals. Four M5 multiplexers may be used together to allow an application to handle 32 T5 terminals. Standard Windows® bit-mapped files can be displayed on the T5's 320 by 240 pixel gray-scale display. Standard Windows® PCM audio .WAV files are used by the application to describe a variety of alert sounds as well as high fidelity sampled sounds. An internal speaker in the T5 faithfully reproduces the sounds including speech or music. Standard Windows® Raster Font (.fnt) files are used by the application to draw text on the display. Four RS232 COM ports are included to accommodate peripherals such as displays, keypads, printers, wands, scanners scales and cash drawers. An ActiveX control provides a simple, consistent software interface supported by variety of development environments such as Visual Basic, Access, Visual C++ and Delphi among others. By handling the keyboard, the display (graphics and text), the audio player and the four RS232 COM ports, this control eliminates the need for any low-level programming. The control will support multiple terminals connected through a Cipher Systems M5 multiplexer or through a multi-drop, 4-wire, and RS422 network. Peripherals such as bar code wands and scanners, printers, scales, remote displays and cash drawers are also supported through this ActiveX control. The ActiveX control and sample applications are free of charge and available for download. T5 terminal is supported in MenuBuilder for easy creation of menu templates. T5 Specifications
M5 Multiplexer OverviewThe M5 Multiplexer is an 8 port hub that allows high speed communication between a Windows application and eight T5 terminals. With an optional power supply the M5 will distribute power to each connected T5 thus eliminating the need for a 110 volt at each terminal location. Up to four M5 multiplexers may be chained together so that 32 terminals may be managed through one COM port. Standard CAT5 wiring connects the M5 to other system components such as T5 terminals, an A5 adaptor located at the host or an additional M5 multiplexer. These system components may be located as far away as 4000 feet. Link and Data status LEDs are provided for each port for quick wiring verification. Programming of Windows applications is simplified by using an ActiveX Control which manages the connected T5 terminals and up to four M5 multiplexers. The programmer simply specifies the port number (1 to 32) and the ActiveX Control handles the low-level protocol. The ActiveX Control is available for download at no charge. An optional power supply connected to an M5 provides power through the CAT5 data cabling to the T5 terminals connected. M5 SpecificationsData rate is 115,000 baud. Data connectors are RJ45. Power requirements 12 to 24 volts AC or DC, 2.5 watts. External 110 volt supply provided. Enclosure material is high impact Polystyrene. Size 7.25 x 4.5 x 1 inches A5 Adapter OverviewThe A5 Adapter connects to a standard PC COM port and converts the serial data signals from RS232 to RS422 levels, which are used by Cipher Systems terminals and multiplexers. RS422 is a 4-wire standard which provide reliable communications at distances up to 4000 feet when used with CAT5 cabling. A DB9 connector plugs into the PC; an RJ45 jack is compatible with CAT5 cable connections that interface with all Cipher Systems terminals and multiplexers. The A5 is powered from the PC's COM port
