Product Development Process

Cipher Systems uses a proven Product Life Cycle Planning (PLP) methodology to manage all facets of your project successfully. This methodology incorporates a phased approach to product development with each phase containing project milestones or “gates”, thus providing a rapid, well managed introduction of new products in a controlled and synchronized manner. This structured flexibility allows us to adapt quickly to meet the needs of project changes, as well as your own internal processes and requirements.

The breadth of our product delivery process starts with product concept development and extends through manufacturing. This enables you to select the development effort which best suits your needs, from subsets within the product development process to full turn-key product development and delivery.

Establishing the product development framework is a collaborative partnership with each of our customers. We’ll work closely with you to create a realistic project plan and commonly use Microsoft® Project to define and manage specific activities, as well as three key project constraints within the PLP framework: Cost, Schedule, and Performance.

We’ll also work with you to develop and manage the project scope, identify risks, form mitigation plans, and provide timely, concise, and organized project communication to ensure your needs and expectations are fully met. Design reviews are scheduled with you at critical points in key phases of development to assure that the project proceeds as desired.

Cipher has used its product development process in projects involving over 100 clients, ranging from start-up companies to Fortune 100 companies.

Key benefits of utilizing the Cipher product development process include:

  • Reducing product development and manufacturing costs.
  • Reducing time-to-market through faster design and validation.
  • Optimizing resources to complete critical projects.
  • Delivering quality products that meet or exceed performance requirements.
  • Flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Communication excellence.
